Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 1, 2026

This policy explains what information AtmoDeck ("we," "us") collects, why, and who else sees it. In short: we collect only what we need to sell, license and support the software, and we do not sell your data or use it for advertising.

1. What We Collect

  • Sponsor log and locations. The sponsor on-air report is kept only on your PC. If you use storm-chaser mode, your phone sends its location to your own PC on your network (never to us), and it is not saved.
  • Referrals. If you arrive through a referral link, your browser remembers the referral code for 30 days and we record it with your license so the referrer can see how many people joined. If you want your own link, we generate a code for your license. We do not share your details with the referrer.
  • Billing details. When you subscribe, Stripe, our payment processor, collects your payment details directly. We never see or store your card number. We keep what Stripe shares with us: your email address, your station or network name (if you provide one), your Stripe customer and subscription identifiers, your plan, and your subscription status.
  • License records. Your license key, the number of machines your plan allows, and when the key was issued.
  • Activation records. For each computer that runs AtmoDeck with your key, a unique identifier for that computer and the times it first and most recently checked in.
  • Support messages. Anything you send us when you contact support.
  • Server logs. Like most services, our servers may briefly record technical details of requests, such as IP address and time, to keep the service running and secure.

2. What the Desktop App Sends to Us

The AtmoDeck desktop app contacts our license server, over an encrypted connection, when it starts and about every 8 hours while it runs. It sends your license key, the computer identifier and the app version, so we can confirm your subscription is active and that your key has not exceeded its machine limit.

The app does not send us your on-air content, station branding, logos, sounds, layouts, cities, counties, camera links, API keys or other settings. Those stay on your own machine. The app has no analytics or crash-reporting that transmits to us.

3. What Happens Directly Between Your Computer and Other Services

To do its job, the app makes requests straight from your computer to third-party services, such as weather, alert and storm-report providers (for example the National Weather Service and Open-Meteo), map and library hosts, news publishers, and the camera hosts whose links you add (for example YouTube). If you turn on optional features, the app also contacts NOAA space weather and hurricane services, an air quality service, your own weather-station provider (Weather Underground, Tempest or Ecowitt) using your own key, Twitch chat (read-only) for chat requests, place-lookup services during setup, OBS Studio on your own computer, and GitHub to check for updates. We do not relay these requests and cannot see them. Those services can see your computer's IP address and the request itself, such as the locations of the cities you configured, and handle that information under their own privacy policies. Your own API keys are sent only to the service they belong to. See the API guide for the list of services.

If you use the radar map, the app also downloads radar, model, satellite and terrain data from public sources such as NOAA's open data on Amazon Web Services, NASA, the CIRA satellite library, the Storm Prediction Center and the map tile hosts OpenFreeMap and USGS; the usual weather icons from the jsDelivr content network; the number of hospitals and schools inside a warning from OpenStreetMap's Overpass service (it receives the shape of the warning, not your location or identity); and, if you pick a Google Font for the map or the lower third, that font from Google Fonts. These requests come from your computer to those services, not through us. Weather icons, pictures and files you upload to AtmoDeck, such as your own weather icons and custom map layers, stay on your computer. Our website loads its font from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when a page loads. Checkout and billing pages are hosted by Stripe.

4. How We Use It

  • To process your subscription and issue and validate your license key.
  • To email you about your subscription: license keys, billing receipts and renewal notices.
  • To respond when you contact support.
  • To keep the service secure and to enforce our Terms of Service. This includes using activation records to detect a key being shared or used beyond its limit, tampering with the software, and other unauthorized use, and to suspend or revoke a key when that happens.
  • To meet legal, tax and accounting obligations.

We don't sell your data, and we don't use it for advertising.

5. Who We Share It With

We share information only with providers that help us run the service, and only what each needs:

  • Stripe for payments and billing management. Stripe does not receive your license activation history.
  • An email provider (Resend) to send your license key and receipts, which receives your email address and the message.
  • Our hosting provider (Fly.io), which runs the license server and stores its records.

We may also disclose information if required by law or legal process, or when reasonably necessary to protect our rights, investigate or stop violations of our Terms, or prevent fraud or unauthorized use of the software.

6. Cookies & Tracking

Our website does not use advertising or analytics trackers, and we do not set tracking cookies. The account page sends the email address or license key you provide directly to our license service. If you choose Remember me, it stores your account email, a signed session token and session expiry in your browser for up to 30 days; without it, the session is kept only for the current browser session and expires after up to 24 hours. It does not store your license key. Stripe's pages may set their own cookies under Stripe's policies.

7. Data Retention

We keep billing, license and activation records for as long as your subscription is active, plus a reasonable period afterward for support, security, legal and accounting purposes. When you remove a machine from your account, its activation record is deleted.

8. Security

License checks use encrypted connections and signed license tokens, and payment details are handled by Stripe rather than by us. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Keep your license key confidential.

9. Your Choices & Rights

You can update your billing details or cancel your subscription any time from the account page, and you can view and remove your activated machines there too. To request a copy of your data, correct it, or ask us to delete it, email info@atmodeck.com. We may need to keep certain records that we are required to keep by law, or that we need to enforce our Terms or handle a dispute, and we will tell you if that applies. If you live somewhere with data protection laws that give you additional rights, such as the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or California, contact us and we will handle your request in line with those laws.

10. Where Your Data Is Processed

Our servers are located in the United States. If you use AtmoDeck from another country, your information is transferred to and processed in the United States.

11. Children

AtmoDeck is a professional tool intended for adults and organizations. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

12. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision, and we will make reasonable efforts to notify subscribers of material changes.
