Earth & Quakes

The Earth in 3D on Map Studio’s own globe, with every quake at its depth over the sinking plates. Open a block of the crust, cut a cross-section along any line, or export a flyover. A quake’s card has its ShakeMap, Did You Feel It?, PAGER and the USGS aftershock forecast.

The Webcams page

Every camera AtmoDeck finds by itself, on one map: state DOT and 511 cameras across the US and Canada, National Park Service webcams, USGS river cameras and Creative Commons YouTube live streams. Add one to your webcams, or put it live on the Output with its name.

Wind streaks in 3D

The 3D radar draws the storm’s wind as streaks read from the radar’s own velocity, with no model. They climb in the updrafts and sink in the downdrafts, and turning the camera is smooth now.

Everything in one app

One Console. Weather, Broadcast and Setup.

The Console’s menu has three groups. Here is what is in each, and where to read about it.

Setup

Map Studio

A real radar studio, built into your broadcast.

Draw the map your viewers see, from a single radar’s raw sweep to the whole country, a satellite loop, or a hurricane’s cone. You run it from the Console; the Output mirrors it, dressed like the rest of your on-air package, with the Powered by AtmoDeck badge.

The AtmoDeck Map Studio in the Console: a toolbar with radar, product, tilt, 3D and scope menus, drawing tools on the left, a live map preview, and a play bar
Map Studio, in the Console. Everything is one click from the toolbar; every detailed setting is in the drawer.

Live NEXRAD, sweep by sweep

Pick any WSR-88D radar and watch its real-time feed draw wedge by wedge as the beam turns. Reflectivity, velocity, storm-relative velocity, dual-pol, rotation markers and a full 3D volume, straight from the radar’s own gates.

The whole country, in 240 products

National MRMS reflectivity, echo tops, precipitation type, rain totals, hail size, lightning and rotation tracks, plus current-conditions, forecast grids, fronts, air quality and aviation layers. Each product keeps its own colors, floor and smoothing.

3D, and Storm sky

The radar volume in 3D with real clouds, precipitation type and wind streaks, models in 3D with their wind, and Storm sky, which draws the storm as it looks.

Two, three or four maps

Panels that are each their own map, kept in step or apart: a radar beside a model, velocity beside reflectivity, today beside yesterday.

Simulated satellite

A base map of the land as a satellite sees it, with its own base color, houses when you zoom in, and a globe that becomes a planet when you zoom out.

Right-click for the science

A sounding or a meteogram for any spot, mesoanalysis maps from the HRRR, live cross sections, and warning boxes with the people, hospitals and schools inside.

Draw on it, live

Telestration, storm tracks with arrival times for the towns in the way, and a Forecast Builder for fronts, highs and lows that move the way the weather does.

Export it

A photo, an MP4 or a GIF of any loop, in the shape you need, with the header, the legend and the badge, ready to post.

Archive mode

Replay any storm since 1991.

Choose a radar and up to three days, and it plays the radar of the time with the warnings and watches as they were sent, storm reports, damage surveys, every tornado track, lightning, satellite, river gauges, the outlooks of the day and the weather balloon, in 3D too. Name the event on the header, save it in the Events menu, and put it on air.

The tropical layer, over the HAFS-A simulated radar.
Hurricanes

A tropical map that is ready when the season is.

Choose a storm and the map frames it: the cone, the forecast track with wind at each point, watches and warnings that follow the coast, wind fields and arrival times, peak storm surge, and the development areas the Hurricane Center is watching.

  • Spaghetti plots of every model track, each named in its own color
  • Hurricane hunter flights live: track, center fixes, winds and dropsondes
  • Tide gauges with flood stages, the STOFS surge model, and flooded roads
Severe weather

Automatic graphics the moment a warning drops.

AtmoDeck watches National Weather Service alerts in the US and Environment Canada alerts in Canada. When one affects your counties it switches the theme, brings up the threat matrix and alert map, plays your alert sound and can post to social and Discord. Optional NWWS-OI credentials give push-speed delivery.

  • Click a warning for its box: the numbers, the people, hospitals and schools inside
  • Rotation markers from our own detector, with the AtmoSpin value, and towns a rotating storm is heading for with no warning

  • A rehearsal mode fires clearly marked test alerts so you can practice

Broadcast

A rundown, your own slides, and graphics to post.

Put the map, slides, video and your own words in order on the Show page. Make the slides in the Slide Builder. Post the day’s story from Graphics.

The Show page

Save the map as blocks (a still or an animation, from one place or on a tour), put them in order with slides, videos, intros and an intermission, and play it on auto-pilot or step by step with a key or a presenter’s clicker. Program and Preview, a Ready check, stinger transitions, a schedule of shows by the clock, and an as-run log.

Slide Builder

Blank layouts and a free canvas: words, boxes, icons and pictures anywhere, any Google font, a color dropper, a live camera behind the slide, and ready-made pieces like the header or a seven-day row. 500 slides in folders, shared with your team.

Graphics

Pictures of the day for social media in your area and your look: Day 1 to 3 chances, a storm recap, a scorecard, before and after, and videos, posted on a schedule.

Second output

The stream in 16:9. Social in 9:16. At once.

Turn on a second on-air window in the other shape. It has its own widget layout, so the vertical picture is arranged for a phone, and everything else (the map, the alerts, the settings) is shared. Point a second OBS source at it and you are live in both.

Beyond the weather

The Sun above. The ground below.

Space Weather has the NOAA scales, Kp, solar wind and X-rays along the top and four views: the solar system with asteroids and comets from JPL, the Sun from SUVI, SDO and SOHO, the whole Earth from five satellites, and a map of the aurora, radio blackouts and the ionosphere. The Moon has a view of its own.

Earth & Quakes puts every earthquake at its depth, with the geologic map, volcanoes and ash, and the DART tsunami buoys. Right-click the globe to survey an area: its quakes since 1900, the nearest fault and the rock there.

Both pages are in Full AtmoDeck, and every view exports as a photo, a video or a GIF with the badge.

Under the ocean floor

Cut the Earth open where the quakes are.

The block view lifts a piece of the crust out of the globe, so the slab of a sinking plate and the quakes along it are seen from the side. A cross-section along any line you draw does the same in two dimensions, and the flyover moves the camera through it for a video.

The Console

Make it yours

Your layout. Your header. Your colors.

AtmoDeck ships with a finished look, and lets you change all of it.

43 widgets

Conditions, forecasts, ticker, a lower third, scanner, threat matrix, radar, tropical, storm arrival times, sponsors, custom data and more. Drag, resize, group them into rotating boxes and save layouts.

Header creator

Upload your own PNG and place every element on it: title, product name, time, LIVE badge, timeline. It behaves just like the built-in header, and the legend can sit inside it.

Your typeface, everywhere

Pick any Google Font for cities, roads, water, markers and the whole broadcast. Save a map style and it becomes a color theme for every block.

A lower third that follows your style

Cycling titles with a label box above and a subtitle under. Breaking news covers it in one push, and every part animates the way you chose.

Weather icons of your own

Upload an icon, animated ones too, for each kind of weather and every moon phase. They show on every bar, slide and map icon.

Layout styles and looks

From the classic slanted look to Glass, applied as you choose. Save the whole styling as a look and switch in one click.

Storm-chaser mode

Chase it. AtmoDeck follows you.

Tap Follow my location on your phone and the radar on your broadcast follows you: a YOU marker, a trail of where you have driven, storm motion arrows, and the tornado and severe thunderstorm warnings around you. Inside a warning, the map border turns the color of that alert. It works in the US, in Canada and across the border.

Run it your way

A team, automation, and free data.

A team that shares

A bucket for show plans, blocks, map cues, looks and layouts, a desk chat on the Dashboard, roles, and your setup kept on your AtmoDeck account for a new computer.

Phone and Stream Deck

Change layouts, hide alerts, flip day and night and run the show from your phone, over Wi-Fi, a hotspot or a private network.

OBS, Twitch and Discord

Switch OBS scenes on an alert, answer !weather requests in chat, and post warnings to a Discord channel or any webhook.

A watchdog and a health page

A frozen output restarts itself, stale data refreshes, and one page shows whether every feed is answering.

Voice and teleprompter

The slideshow and alerts read aloud in a natural voice, and a teleprompter with your own lines in a window of its own.

Help that finds it fast

Press F1 for the whole guide, starting with everyday tasks, and a search that reads every word of it.

The map and alerts use free public data: NOAA, the National Weather Service, NASA, USGS, the Iowa Environmental Mesonet, Environment Canada and more. No keys are required. See the full list.
